The cost Adjustment tool is a great new feature for D365 BC Users. This new functionality ensures for accurate inventory valuation and controlling cost adjustment.

The cost of an item (inventory value) that you purchase, and later sell might change during its lifetime, for example because a freight cost is added to its purchase cost after you sell the item.

Cost adjustment is especially relevant in situations where you sell goods before you invoice the purchase of those goods. To always know the correct inventory value, you should regularly adjust item costs. Correct costs help ensure that sales and profit statistics are up to date and that financial KPIs are correct.

Minimise the number of items with inaccurate costs and reduce the time between posting an entry and reflecting its cost in the general ledger. You can track the performance of the cost adjustment batch job for each run and individual item. If the batch job has errors, you can identify the problematic items and take corrective actions. For example, you can exclude the items from calculations to ensure uninterrupted adjustments for other items.
